Beautiful example of this book which is scarce to begin with, and much more scarce in excellent condition (most of the small run of 1st printing copies were sold to submariners and have damp stains). SIGNED by the author on a loosely laid-in bookplate (not attached to the book). True 1st edition/1st printing of the book and 1st issue of the dustjacket (the book has 18 lines of type on copyright page, ISBN number lower back binding panel, weighs right at 2 lbs., and no printing history on the copyright page; the 1st issue dustjacket has no price, has the ISBN number lower back panel, and has 6 blurbs on the back panel, with Clive Cussler as the 3rd). The book is fine--strai ght, clean, no binding wear except a touch of shelving bumping to lower spine end (cloth not limp, however), clean page edges, and has no writing in it. The dustjacket is near fine--no chips or tears, but a couple of very, very tiny nicks to laminate at edges, a couple of tiny rubs from shelving, and small straightened out corner folds to 2 flap corners. It is crisp, bright, unfaded and clean. Truly lovely example of this scarce in 1st issue author's 1st book. ; Signed by Author .
