The prose version of the classic medieval romance. Although retold and reworked by hundreds of poets and authors since the original version, this version is French medievalist Joseph Bédier's telling of what he believed to be the original poem as adapted by Thomas of Brittany. This first "complete" English-language edition translated by Hilaire Belloc and "completed" by Paul Rosenfeld. Wonderful, sympathetic woodcuts or linoleum block prints by Joep Nicolas.Decorative capitals. Beige buckram cloth on boards. Heavily-textured natural fiber (wheat?) VG- DJ in mylar, chipped but attractive and looks better than it "reads" here.. A very nice, clean VG copy. ; Woodcuts; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 253 pages .
