It is very clean, straight & tight, with spine ends are very lightly bumped from shelving and a previous owner's name is neatly written on the front endpage (lower corner). The dustjacket is clean and bright with one edge tear that is internally mended and the spine is sunned. The advance review copy notice dated 10/26/48, is laid in the book, as well as a letter from the publisher about the author. Also, a newspaper article about the author is included. There is a light shadow on the title page from the letter. Biography of Arthur Quiller-Couch. The book recaps Q's autobiography and gives an account of the rest of his life in and out of literature, and also includes material on the social and political climate that influenced and shaped him.
