Residue from missing laid down paper to front pastedown, likely the mass-produced presentation letter from the Supreme Council of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction. 1982. Not First Edition; Second Printing. Hardcover. Lists individuals in the Christian Bible and their links to Masonic thought and tradition. Includes the Biblical references for each individual. Comprises the connection between Freemasonry and Judeo-Christia n history. One of an edition of 3000. John H. Van Gorden (1899-2002 !) also wrote Historical Characters in Freemasonry and Masonic Charities, and his "Characters" books are typically found in prescribed reading courses for Freemasons: all tend toward the Scottish Rite side of the house. Author was a member of the Society of Blue Friars, a "guild" of Masonic authors. Appendixes, Notes, and Index. List of fictitious, symbolic Masonic characters with Biblical names. Gilt title, etc. to spine and cover. Red textured paper over boards. No DJ, believed as-issued.
