Ells, B.F., editor

The Western Miscellany Volume I July 1848 to July 1849
Dayton OH: B.F. Ells. Very Good-; Moderate, pervasive foxing doesn't impair readability. Missing four leaves immediately after title page. 1849. Hardcover. Miscellany indeed, this is a compendium of history, anecdote, religion, agriculture, morality, education, biography, and the like, covering not just the United States, but the rest of the world. The nature of man, how to anneal cast iron, the history of the use of salt, portrait painting among the 'red indians,' an essay on the musk ox, steam power in the manufacture of sugar, the number of common thieves in London, and similar facts for your enlightenment.
