New York: Pantheon Books. Very Good in Very Good- dust jacket; Offsetting of DJ flaps to endpapers, light toning to endpapers and pastedowns, faintest toning to edges of leaves. DJ chipped at all edges except front, heavily-chipped at spine, chip to center of spine, price clipped. 1945. First American Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. The prose version of the classic medieval romance. Although retold and reworked by hundreds of poets and authors since the original version, this version is French medievalist Joseph Bédier's telling of what he believed to be the original poem as adapted by Thomas of Brittany. This first "complete" English-language edition translated by Hilaire Belloc and "completed" by Paul Rosenfeld. Wonderful, sympathetic woodcuts or linoleum block prints by Joep Nicolas.Decorative capitals. Beige buckram cloth on boards. Heavily-textured natural fiber (wheat?) VG- DJ in mylar, chipped but attractive and looks better than it "reads" here.. A very nice, clean VG copy. ; Woodcuts; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 253 pages .

Not First Edition; Seventh Printing. Hardcover. Maroon cloth on boards, gilt head edge to leaves, illustrated pastedowns and endpapers. Maroon ribbon detached, but laid in. Still clean, unmarked, and nice inside: a good reader.; 16mo - 6" to 7" tall; 382 pages .
