Buff cloth with black-stamped spine title, and white, brown, and black stamped front cover title and illustration. No dust jacket. Illustrated endpapers. There are numerous in-text illustraitons in addition to the full-page illustrations. Each page of text or illustration is within a decorative border. Front pastedown bears Christmas gift inscription from 1911. In Fair Condition: covers are soiled; spine title is faded; some soiling of pages, largely marginal; text block is largely separated from binding; final 2 leaves (containing pp. 73-74 and 1 blank leaf) are detached but present. A nicely illustrated book of Japanese fairy tales.. Fair. Illus. by Ogawa, Sanchi .

Color illustrated endpapers. Color title page illustration. Contains five tales designed to teach chldren to behave, very nicely illustrated with both full-page and in-text illustrations. Contents: Little Gray Doors; The Mirror; The Magic Needle; Paternoster; The Fairy Glen. In Good Condition: edges of cover rubbed; tail of spine starting to fray; corners are rubbed through; one small scrape on front cover; covers are lightly soiled; soiling that primarily affects text, not illustrations; pp. 50, 51, and 118 scraped with small loss of text; pages are tight and illustrations are bright. An extremely scarce and charmingly illustrated children's book from the 1920s.. Good. Illus. by The Phillips.
