1450. An original vellum leaf from a Book of Hours, written in Latin around 1450 in Northern France possibly Rouen. 17 lines in single column text, in brown ink. Two-line initial "B" in burnished gold on a ground of red and blue with white tracery. Twelve further one-line initials in burnished gold with line fillers in same. </br></br>Recto has a bar border of burnished gold ivy leaves and coloured flowers on hairline sprays. </br></br>Starts Luke (1:68-78): "Benedictus Deus Israhel quia visitavit et fecit redemptionem plebi suae". 1500. An original vellum leaf from a Book of Hours, written in Latin between 1500 and 1520 in France. 17 lines in single column text, written in dark brown ink. Two-line capital in liquid gold on a ground of red and blue. Two further one-line initials in liquid gold.; Beata dei genitrix maria virgo antiphon. MEDIUM: Manuscript in Latin on vellum.
