1. Saturday Night at the Dinosaur Stomp
Shields, Carol Diggory

New York: Scholastic Incorporated, 1997. VG- Cover brightm minor shelfwear, sm chips rubs, horizontal crease on back Pages clean bright tight Beautiful full color pages From School Library Journal: PreSchool-Grade 2: There is a catchy rhythm in the rhyming verse Shields creates for her dancing dinosaurs, though the subject matter alone ensures a receptive audience. There's no real story here, just a playful description of events leading up to the big Saturday night event, the Dinosaur Stomp. Nash's large, brightly colored illustrations are full of movement and complement the light tone of the text. The cartoon dinosaurs are drawn with partial accuracy in regard to their general shape and attributes such as horns, but these friendly faces are not at all threatening or scary. Children will enjoy the lively verse and exuberant artwork; dance steps are diagrammed on the endpapers. Robin L. Gibson, Muskingum County Library System, Zanesville, OH Copyright 1997 Reed Business Information, Inc.. Reprint. Soft Cover. Good. Illus. by Nash, Scott . 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

5. Bingo, the Best Dog in the World (I Can Read)
Siracusa, Catherine

New York: HarperCollins Publishers, 1991. Fine 1991 1st Ed UNREAD UNUSED Pictorial cover bright, minimal wear Pages clean bright white tight Excellent copy Reading level: Baby-Preschool From School Library Journal: Kindergarten-Grade 1-- A simple story about a busy day in the life of Bingo, a little gray-and-white dog who hates to take baths. On this special Saturday, her owners, Samantha and Stuart, are persistent because the pup is to be entered in the school's dog show. After several mishaps, Bingo, Sam, Stuart, and the children's mother arrive at the show in a police car. In the midst of all the excitement, Bingo dozes off and sleeps throughout the judging and a fiasco at a hot dog stand while the other previously well-groomed and well-behaved dogs go wild. As a result, she is awarded the day's only blue ribbon (presumably for good behavior). Levitt's colorful childlike cartoons complement the easy-to-read text; the pup's expressions are precious. While not as endearing as Zion's Harry or Rylant's Mudge, Bingo will be embraced by dog-loving beginning readers. --April L. Judge, Thousand Oaks Library, CA Copyright 1992 Reed Business Information, Inc.. First Edition. Pictorial Cover. Fine. Illus. by Levitt, Sidney . 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

6. Abiyoyo: Based on a South African Lullaby and Folk Story
Seeger, Pete

New York: Scholastic Inc., 1994. Scholastic 1st Ed 2nd printing Cover bright, minor edge wear, rubs chips, lt folds Pages clean bright white tight Reading level: Ages 4-8 From Publishers Weekly Folksinger, musician and storyteller Seeger first told this story-song to his children over 20 years ago and has now written it as a book. It's based on a South African lullaby and folksong, yet it's too rollicking and exciting to lull a child to sleep. A ukulele-playing boy and his magician father are always getting into mischief, so they are banished to the edge of their town. There they have an opportunity to redeem themselves when Abiyoyo, a horrible, people-eating giant approaches the village. The story is so lyrical that Seeger's voice can be heard on every page. Hays, in his first picture book, creates a beautiful multicultural village. His sea of many-colored faces and costumes is exhilarating and expressive. The giant Abiyoyo is massive and jagged-toothed, but childlike and nonthreatening. The book is a triumph of storytelling and art. Copyright 1986 Reed Business Information, Inc. Reprint. Soft Cover. Very Good. Illus. by Hays, Michael . 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

VG+/Fair Cover bright, minor shelf:edge/corner wear, chips rubs to extremities Pages clean tight bright Dust Jacket bright (in Brodart cover) worn w/lt soil, some spots, creases, tape repaired tears , chips rubs From The Merriam-Webster Encyclopedia of Literature: Notorious erotic novel by John Cleland, first published in two volumes in 1748-49 as Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure. The novel, published in an expurgated version as Memoirs of Fanny Hill in 1750 and commonly known simply as Fanny Hill, chronicles the life of a London prostitute, describing with scatological and clinical precision many varieties of sexual behavior. Although elegantly written, the novel was suppressed from its initial publication. It was kept in print surreptitiously, however, and for almost two centuries Fanny Hill enjoyed a salacious reputation. The book was not published legally until 1963 in the United States and 1970 in England.. NE Plus Ultra Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Fair. Illus. by Blum, Zevi . Folio - over 12" - 15" tall.

In this beautifully designed hardcover, McCaffrey focuses her attention on the fantastical creature's existence throughout history. Her words are complemented by the stunning color portraits by John Howe, noted for his success with several J.R.R. Tolkien calendars and maps. Engagingly conceived, McCaffrey's story is a moderndaydragon fantasy, colored with excerpts of some of the most thrilling scenes taken from classic dragon tales and accompanied by John Howe's magnificent art. Dragons from the time of the Bible and the Babylonians, the Arthurian Era and the Chinese Dynasties, to the current dragons invented by Robin McKinley, Gordon R. Dickson, Melanie Rown, and McCaffrey herself--are all fully explored and rendered in glorious detail. 14. Art Dog
Hurd, Thacher (Illustrator)

New York: HarperCollins, 1996. Near Fine 1996 1st printing Glossy pictorial cover bright, negligible wear, ffep lt fold Pages clean bright white tight Dust Jacket bright, lt folds, minor edgewear Full color illustrations Reading level: Ages 4-8 From Publishers Weekly: Talk about a dog marking its territory-by day Arthur Dog is a mild-mannered hound who guards the Dogopolis art museum, but when the moon is full, he becomes Art Dog. Donning beret and mask, he takes paints and brushes and fills the back alleys of the city with his murals. Art Dog remains undiscovered until he's framed for the theft of Leonardo Dog Vinci's Mona Woofa. He's thrown in the clink, but escapes with the help of his superpowered medium ("where there were bars, he painted a window"), nabs the real crooks and gets his own gallery exhibit as a reward. Hurd's (Mama Don't Allow; Mystery on the Docks) straight-from-the-tube palette and blurry brush strokes suggest a painter in speedy action; his art-humor-canine portraits based on canvases by Vermeer, Seurat, Picasso and others line the museum walls-is good-natured. His plot, meanwhile, gleefully invokes comic-book conventions: Art Dog drives a streamlined Brushmobile, stops off at the Wile E. Coyote-esque Acme Paint Co. and battles the baddies in a dynamic spread highly suggestive of TV's goofy Batman (enhanced with cutout shapes a la Matisse). A waggish good time. Ages 4-8. Copyright 1995 Reed Business Information, Inc. . First Edition, First Printing. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. Illus. by Hurd, Thacher . 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

18. Mailing May
Tunnell, Michael O

HarperTrophy, 2000. 32 pages From School Library Journal Kindergarten-Grade 2. Five-year-old Charlotte May Pierstorff begs to visit her grandmother, but her parents cannot afford to send her. In Idaho in 1914, the train is the only way to make the 75-mile trip over the mountains. The Pierstorffs come up with an unusual solution?mailing May. Sending her as a package is a third of the cost, and since her mother's cousin Leonard handles the railroad mail car, she does not have to travel alone. Children will delight in the fantasy aspects of the tale even after they discover that the story is true. Tunnell describes his research in an author's note. Rand's watercolor illustrations are masterful, as is the design of the book as a whole. The intriguing cover is made to look like a suitcase. With the tweed of the traveling bag as a backdrop, the title is framed in the shape of a postage stamp, and two other old-fashioned stamps and a "photograph" of May holding the same suitcase are featured. The device of the painted photographs or other pieces of realia such as a postal tag or train schedule appear throughout the book's glowing two-page spreads and add to the story's authenticity. This well-crafted presentation provides a brief, but sweet, glimpse into the past.?Lucinda Snyder Whitehurst, St. Christopher's School, Richmond, VA Copyright 1997 Reed Business Information, Inc. 00-01 CA Young Reader Medal Masterlist and 01 Colorado Children's Book Award (Pic. And it is there that Roland tells them a story, one that details his discovery of something even more elusive than the Dark Tower: love. But his romance with the beautiful and quixotic Susan Delgado also has its dangers, as her world is torn apart by war. Here is Roland's journey to his own past, to a time when valuable lessons awaited him, lessons of loyalty and betrayal, love and loss. As he did in the first three volumes in the Dark Tower series, The Gunslinger, The Drawing of the Three, and The Waste Lands, Stephen King displays his marvelous talent for storytelling.
